The Sessions
The Sessions is a touring programme of interactive music concerts for secondary school students looking to develop their popular music skills.
The Sessions are an inspiring opportunity to experience some of the music stars of tomorrow, and witness them explain their craft, in schools, to younger students, through an interactive 45-50 minute performance.
Performance workshops are specially designed by musicians from Trinity Laban’s Music Performance and Industry Popular Music degree programme. Students are supported by a project tutor from among Trinity Laban’s pool of professional music leaders.
The workshop can link to a school’s KS3 or GCSE curriculum, assisting teachers in helping students to hone skills in listening and appraising music. It is ideally aimed at 20 – 45 students. The Sessions will also give students a practical insight into the popular music industry and progression routes for young musicians.
We particularly welcome bookings from schools interested in a longer-term engagement with Trinity Laban’s Music Performance and Industry programme. This could include future mentoring, coaching sessions and visits to Trinity Laban.
What does a school need to provide to be able to host the sessions?
- Access to a school hall/large space for the interactive schools workshop.
- A weighted keyboard / tuned piano
- Ideally, it’s really helpful if the school can provide the following equipment, although this isn’t essential. Please get in touch if any of this is of concern:
- Drum Kit
- Bass Amp
- Guitar Amp
- Vocal Mics
- PA
Deadline for applications: Monday 29 September, 09:00
