Trinity Laban musicians nominated for 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards

Many talented jazz musicians from the Trinity Laban community have been nominated for the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Current student group Knats, featuring jazz musicians and life-long friends King Ike-Elechi and Stan Woodward, have been nominated for Jazz Newcomer of the Year. The ‘Geordie Jazz’ ensemble will shine centre stage at Blackheath Halls this October in Sounds from West Africa. Renowned jazz quintet Ezra Collective (including Trinity Laban alumni Femi Koleoso and Joe Armon-Jones) and The Banger Factory, led by alum Mark Kavuma, are in line for Jazz Ensemble of the Year. Trinity Laban partners Tomorrow’s Warriors vie for the Jazz Education Award, while alum Daniel Casimir’s Balance competes for Jazz Album of the Year, as does Ezra Collective’s Dance, No One’s Watching. Our jazz professor and vocalist Brigitte Beraha is nominated for Jazz Vocalist of the Year.

We wish all our nominees the best of luck for the awards ceremony, which will take place on 14 October at World Heart Beat in Nine Elms. The Parliamentary Jazz Awards, are organised by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Group (APPJG – Chair Chi Onwurah MP, Deputy Chair Lord Mann) and supported by the Musicians’ Union and UK Music.
